So you took some photos with your digital camera and they turned out great. Now you want to put them on your website and you feel empowered because you have our wonderful CMS and you can add photos to your website all by yourself. Yay…but WAIT. A common newbie mistake is putting that photo directly onto your website.
The photo that comes from your digital camera is for print. Which means in is HUGE in the web world. In order to have a nice sharp image when your photo is printed out it needs to have a high resolution, which makes the file size large. However, with web you don’t need that and should NOT have a high resolution photo on your website. Photos should be as small in terms of Kb/size as possible without loosing major quality. So how do you shrink your photos and optimize them for web use?
I use photoshop, but it is a bit pricey and really unnecessary if all you need to do is shrink your photo. So now what? Have no fear I’m back with more FREE stuff for all of you to use.
